House Rules That Keep Our Community Harmonious

Noise

All neighbors enjoy the tranquility within our urbanization and therefore everyone should respect the calmness in our community. Bear in mind not to make loud noises during daytime (loud music, barking dogs, honking car horns, etc.…) but more importantly, respect the silence during nighttime and especially during the beloved Spanish tradition “¡Siesta!” which we’ve all come to embrace.

Parking

Throughout the urbanization, parking areas are delineated with both signage on posts/walls, and painted lines on the street surface. Both the signage and street markings indicate no parking zones (yellow lines and no parking signs) as well as parking zones (white lines) in order to improve the safety within the community and not only enabling neighbors to park properly, but more importantly, to allow the passage of emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire engines and police vehicles when unexpected situations arise. Please be aware that parking improperly could cause dangerous situations.

Waste Disposal

Within our community, we have two waste disposal areas — one for normal household trash and recycling at the entrance to our urbanización (main area), and one for garden waste, approximately in the middle of the urbanization at the eastern boundary (a small dead-end street going east between houses Nº 107 and Nº 109).

Normal waste and recycling: Here you will find several containers: for general domestic waste, and for recycling of paper, plastics, and glass. Please make sure to dispose of waste correctly into the appropriate container(s). Cardboard boxes need to be flattened prior to disposing, in order to fit inside the container. Larger household items such as small domestic appliances and small furniture items are to be left next to the glass (green) container only on Thursday afternoons, as the collection by the Salobreña Town Hall is on Friday morning. You must take large pieces of furniture by taking it to the appropriate disposal location in Salobreña. Do not leave garden waste in this location.

Garden waste and composting: All green waste from the garden such as trees, plants, branches, grass, etc. must be emptied into the garden waste “green” container at this location. There is also a community compost bin for people who prefer to bring their kitchen waste to be turned into healthy compost for the garden. It is absolutely forbidden to dispose plastic bags into the garden waste (or “green”) container, as the urbanization could be fined for this. Use plastic bags for transporting, but bring the bag back home or dispose them in the bin provided and signposted near the community compost bin.

It is extremely important that dog owners clean up the dog waste appropriately after taking their dogs out for a walk. Dog waste left behind is not only offensive to other neighbors and a disgrace to our community, it is a serious health and sanitation problem for the urbanization.

By following these simple guidelines, we ensure that Alfa-Mar remains a beautiful, welcoming, and healthy place to live — a community we can all be proud of.
